The next Open Session for parents and families to come into classrooms between 3.15 – 3.45 p.m. is on Monday 9th January 2012. These sessions are held on the first Monday of each month and give another opportunity for you to look at your children‘s work and talk to teachers.

Parsons Lane

We would like to remind parents not to drive up Parsons Lane to drop their children off at Browns. Please either park in the British Legion Car Park or park in the car park behind the shops and walk through the main school playground.

MUSIC, DANCE AND SPORT

Music, Sport and Performing Arts are a real strength in the school and Year 4 and Year 5 continue to make excellent progress in their music lessons. We look forward to hearing Year 5 play their trumpets next term.

Violin Concert

As you know, all Year 4 children are learning to play the violin and on Thursday 2nd December, the children performed a concert to their parents to show the progress they had made. It was fantastic to see all the children play simple tunes after ten weeks of tuition and we look forward to continuing this wonderful opportunity again next term.

Dance Concert

The children who took part in the Streetdance Club on a Tuesday after school, performed their dance routines to their parents on Tuesday 29th November to show what they had been working on during the sessions. Fantastic rhythm, improvisation and synchronised dance routines were on display and this was very much enjoyed by the children and their parents.

Woolmer Hill Christmas Concert

Thank you to the children in the choir who performed at the Christmas Fayre. On Wednesday 14th they will be performing to the residents of Springkell and on Thursday 15th December at 7pm they will be performing at Woolmer Hill as part of a Christmas Concert celebrating music.

Christmas Play

We hope you were able to come to 'Puss In Boots' last week. The children gave us three wonderful performances and lots of our younger children took to the stage like professionals.

Our thanks go to Miss Butcher for producing and directing the Christmas play.

Staffing

We will be saying goodbye to Mrs Wilkinson who will be going to New York in January 2012. Our thanks go to her for teaching Year 6 Focus groups this term - she will be missed by the Year 6 children who have received her expertise in Maths and Literacy.

As some of you may be aware, Mrs Miller will be taking maternity leave from the end of February 2012 and she will return in September 2012. We are absolutely delighted for Mrs Miller and her family.

Mrs Pimenta already takes the Year 5 class on Wednesday afternoons and this will continue for the rest of the year. Mrs Huntingford will be joining Beacon Hill Primary School from February 2012 to cover the maternity leave for three days a week- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Mrs Huntingford joins us from South Farnham School where she has been the Year group leader for Year 5 and she has many years of experience. The remaining one and a half days will be taught by Mrs Walker.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Huntingford to our team of teachers in February 2012.
